This is a significant pair of two handwritten letters attributed to Pablo Escobar and addressed to Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, each on paper measuring 5.25" x 8" with a single horizontal crease. Both letters bear multiple red stamps on the front and reverse reading “Ministerio De Defensa Nacional Policia,” along with rusted stamp impressions numbered #21413 on the first letter and #21414 on the second. The first letter is dated Envigado, Colombia, 18 de marzo de 1988, and contains an urgent handwritten message instructing Jairo and “el chiliy” to return immediately to Medellín where “matamos las vacas,” to bring “esa obejita sana y salva,” and warns against lingering or “dando papaya.” The second letter is dated Villa de la Paz, Envigado, Colombia, 19 de Junio de 1991, and reflects on loyalty, suspicion, ambition, and control, noting that good news is not always good nor bad news always bad, that many speak of loyalty but few understand its weight, and that force without control becomes weakness, while asking to be kept informed of anything that happens. Both letters close with a signature and inked fingerprint. Condition includes original folded paper, one horizontal crease per letter, red official Ministerio De Defensa Nacional Policia stamps, rusted stamp numbers #21413 and #21414, and expected age wear; the handwritten Spanish text retains original spelling and punctuation as transcribed.
