    Pink Floyd pioneered how audiences listen to music, performing the world's first surround-sound concert in 1967. In 1990, Roger Waters organized a performance of The Wall album in Berlin that became one of the biggest rock concerts in history.

    The band's original members include Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Richard Wright. 

  • Influences

    Pink Floyd's art was influenced by George Orwell's Animal Farm, which the band adapted into their 1977 album Animals.

    Pink Floyd is considered a leader of the progressive rock genre, which emphasizes lyrics, art, and production. They were also one of the first British psychedelic groups, a genre that attempts to mimic the experience of using psychoactive substances. 

  • Albums

    Some of Pink Floyd's best-known albums include The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall. The Wall is about a character named Pink who builds a wall to close himself off from the world, and the story culminates in a mental trial.
