An original encre de chine by Hergé depicting two scenic panels from Le Lotus Bleu: the return steamship voyage from Shanghai, where Tintin is confronted by a mad swordsman poisoned by a dart. The vertical panel on the left side of the page shows a close-up of the ship’s funnel. The square panel that sits frontwards shows a seascape view of the steamship. The sheet is signed by Hergé in the lower-left corner and features typewritten dialogue from the comic in the upper-right corner. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a signed original Hergé ink drawing from one of the most celebrated Tintin adventures. The artwork is accompanied by a printed copy of a 2013 email exchange with Philippe Goddin, the renowned Hergé biographer and chronological authority, in which Goddin states that the work is an original Hergé rather than a studio production or copy. A compelling provenance piece for serious collectors of original comic-strip art, Tintin memorabilia, and Hergé scholarship.
